* Leaving Google and other cloud services

Despite being an active user of Google's services: it's search engine,
webmail, drive and others. I just don't agree on trusting them such
enormous part of my life. So I decided to leave them, I bought my own
VPS, which are very cheap nowadays. In fact giving the prices of
having one I can just feel irritated on how little of a cost I
represent to Google or Dropbox as a client on their free
services. Although I don't know either how much money they make out of
me.

Having the VPS is not enough, I need to administer it. Fortunately
there is already enough people leaving the free online services in
favor of hosting their own. This is the case of the nice people behind
the [[https://github.com/sovereign/sovereign][sovereign]] project. This provides a simple way of maintaining and
managing my VPS it and return the control of my online life back to
myself and family.

A pesar de ser un activo usuario de los servicios de Google: su motor
de búsqueda, webmail, drive entre otros, sencillamente no me parece
confiar ante ellos tan ancha parte de mi vida en linea. Así que he
decidido dejarlo, he comprado mi propio VPS, que ya ni son caros hoy
en día. Para ser sinceros dado su costo, solo me siento molesto de
cuan poco costo yo represente a Google o Dropbox como un cliente con
un plan gratuito. A pesar de que de todas maneras desconozco cuanto
dinero ellos hagan de mí.

Comprar el VPS no es suficiente, hay que
administrarlo. Afortunadamente, ya hay suficiente gente abandonando
como yo los servicios en linea gratuitos en favor de administrarlos
personalmente. Este es el caso de la gente atrás del proyecto
[[https://github.com/sovereign/sovereign][sovereign]]. Éste provee una simple manera de administrar my VPS y
devolverme el control de mi vida en linea para mí y mi familia.
